Description

Visual Art Exchange and Cynergie Studio, along with media sponsor Yelp, present "Love of Community." If you love your community, like we do, you won't want to miss this PKN Vol. 10 as we celebrate our city along with hundreds of others world-wide during Global PechaKucha week. Our presenters will talk, shout, play, and maybe even sing their praises of community all in 6 minutes and 40 seconds each.

This event will take place at The Union Tavern Raleigh in downtown Raleigh on February 22nd, 2012, at 6:40 pm (doors open at 5:40)! The event is free, but space is very limited. We fully expect the event to sell out, so make sure to get your tickets early!

Dining Downtown

We will have a few snacks on hand, but if you think you may be hungry, there are plenty of spots to dine that are near the The Union. Right next door are two spots, Tuscan Blu and Jibarra. Across the street is The Pit, and around the corner you can find Humble Pie and BrewMasters

Parking

There is a free parking lot right out front of The Union. See the map. Or you can park downtown and take the eco-friendly R-LIne. It stops right outside of the parking area on W. Davie Street. The R-Line runs every 15 minutes, and on Wednesday it runs 7am to 11pm.

We will have 2 short breaks and an Intermission where the talented Kim Arrington, International Singer-Songwriter and part of The Art of Cool Project, will sing a few love-inspired songs.

Yelp will be there with games and prizes, and we'll have a few giveaways and surprises to keep things interesting. We will be on-air streaming live via our Ustream PKN Raleigh channel.

What is Pecha Kucha Night? PechaKucha (pronounced roughly: pe-chak-cha) is the Japanese word for chit-chat. But think of it as a way to share powerful ideas in a fast-paced, high-energy manner: 20 slides presented for 20 seconds each. That’€™s 6 minutes and 40 seconds to get your point across. It’s a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.
